Giza Pyramids, Egypt

                             Giza Pyramids, Egypt

The Giza Plateau
Giza is located west and south of modern Cairo, in the vast desert imagined by the ancient Egyptians to be the land of the dead. Guarded by the Great Sphinx, the plateau is dominated by the massive pyramids of Khufu (Gr. Cheops), Khafre (Gr. Chephren), and Menkaure (Gr. Mycerinus), all of whom ruled Egypt during the 4th Dynasty (c. 2500 BC). The royal pyramid complexes, which include temples, causeways, and satellite pyramids, are surrounded by tombs of the elite-members of the royal family, the nobility, and the priesthood. At the foot of the plateau, south of the Great Sphinx, lie the Cemetery and Town of the Pyramid Builders, where the men and women who constructed the royal and elite tombs on the main plateau lived, worked, and were buried.
Probably the most famous site in Egypt, Giza has fascinated the world for millennia. Although the archaeological and historical evidence proves without a doubt that the Great Pyramid of Khufu and its companions are royal tombs built during the Old Kingdom, alternative theorists continue to argue that they were built by aliens or people from the mythical land of Atlantis. The pyramids are indeed remarkable feats of engineering: the Great Pyramid is aligned to the cardinal directions to within 1 degree of arc. However, this was within the engineering capabilities of Egypt's early kings, and there is no need to create outlandish theories to explain its construction.

Maldives

                                            Maldives

Welcome to the Maldives, where sands are white as the smiles of the locals, where fish swim happily in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, where the weather is a dream, and the deep rays of the sun wait to engulf you their arms.In ancient times, the shores of the Maldives welcomed lost travellers. Still welcoming, these shores remain, providing a tranquil haven for visitors.

The Maldives- Culture
The islands of Maldives appear in-between the trading route of the Indian Ocean. Thus settlers, and visitors from neighbouring regions and around the world have come in contact with the islands for as long as history has been recorded. Such is the to-and-fro flow of people and their cultures, that a marked effect has been left in the Maldivian people, the language, beliefs, arts, and attitudes.

Weather & Climate
The weather in the Maldives is usually picture perfect: sunlit days, breezy nights, balmy mornings, and iridescent sunsets. The temperature hardly ever changes - which makes packing for your holiday an easy task (see what to pack). With the average temperature at about 30 degrees Celsius throughout the year, the sun is a constant on most days, shining through treetops, creating lacy patterns on your feet, healing cold-bones with its warmth. Throughout the day, the sun will make itself known, ensuring that it will be remembered and missed, like an old friend, as you pack up your suitcases to leave.

The Environment
The Maldivian President who dived underwater with his cabinet has given a new light to the association between Maldives and ‘environment’. The worldnow knows how dependent the Maldives is on its natural environment. The environment has a direct affect on all facets of a Maldivian’s life. The islands are protected by thousands  of reefs that need to be alive for this unique archipelago to exist in future. The corals on our reefs need its countless in habitants to feed on them for the corals to re-grow. Locals need the fish in the water for livelihood and they depend on the beauty of its reefs and islands to sustain our tourism industry. Most importantly, the Maldives needs its citizens and visitors to take care of its wonderful natural environment in order to survive
as one of the most magical places on earth.

In a place that is more sea than land, there is no end to the fun things you do in the water. Maldivians swim for recreation, they play water polo with their friends at weekend picnics, they surf addictively.
3:The Maldives Honeymoon
If a honeymoon is meant to be a celebration of love in an intimate, secluded, and most importantly, beautiful setting, then the Maldives is the world’s best backdrop for all these things
4:Spa and wellness
Just lying on a deserted beach of a Maldivian island, taking in nothing but the continuous rhythm of the waves, the sea salt in the air and feeling the soft white sand on your bare feet is enough to sooth your senses.
5:Relax and unwind
The Maldives is considered by many to be the premier tropical beach destination in the world and the best place to relax and unwind from the hectic and chaotic lifestyle of the modern world.

Lençóis Maranhenses, Brazil

                          Lençóis Maranhenses, Brazil

ABOUT
Stretching on for miles upon miles, the sand dunes in Brazil's Lençóis Maranhenses National Park are so vast and so blindingly white that it's easy to see how the park got its name—Lençóis Maranhenses, in Portuguese, literally means "bedsheets of Maranhão," the northeastern coastal state where the national park is found.
Two rivers run through the Lençóis Maranhenses—these rivers push sand from the interior of the continent to the Atlantic Ocean, depositing thousands of tons of sediment along Brazil's northern coast. This alone isn't a unique phenomenon—sediment flowing through rivers helps form beaches along many coastlines. But in Lençóis Maranhenses, the sand doesn't stay put. During the dry season, especially during the months of October and November, powerful winds from the equatorial Atlantic whip the sand back inland, carrying it as far as 30 miles and creating the vast, sculpted sand dunes for which the park is famous.

What to Do in Lençóis Maranhenses:
1: Ride the sand dunes aboard a jeep with experienced guides and stop for a dip in the lagoons
2: Ride a boat on the Preguiças River with a stop at Pequenos Lençóis and at riverside kiosks
3: Visit the Preguiças lighthouse in Mandacaru
4: Fly over the park ,( About $100 for a 30-minute flight)
5: Take a day-long quad ride to Pequenos Lençóis
6: Go tubing on the Formiga River in Cardosa

7: Access to the park is controlled by ICMBIO and only certified agencies can take travelers. There         are no amenities except in Barreirinhas and in the villages.

Venice, Italy

                                         Venice, Italy

why you love venice

In Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities, Venetian explorer Marco Polo describes the cities he’s seen to Kublai Khan – only everywhere he describes is actually Venice. From the moment you arrive, you’ll understand why. Venice floods the imagination with possibility, launching dreams like ships from its Istrian stone shores. Gothic palaces, glass-blowing studios, art biennials, masquerade parties: every seemingly permanent fixture of this floating landscape is the culmination of a thousand creative efforts, anchored by a thousand years of travellers’ tales. Yet the city’s glories cannot be exaggerated or repeated enough; Venice makes Marco Polos of us all

Naica Mine, Mexico

                                   Naica Mine, Mexico

About the place
The Naica mine with its enormous gypsum crystals may well be called the "Queen of the Giant Crystal localities". Giant crystals in general are exactly this : of remarkable dimensions ! But they are not necessarily nice or esthetic in the common sense and in fact they only rarely display free growing crystals. In Naica they do ! And all what you ever imagined about giant crystals in the interior of the earth, about enormous vugs filled with glittering crystals so large, you can walk among them, comes true in Naica !
In 2000 another crystal cave system was discovered at 300 m depth, even much more spectacular than the original discovery back in 1910. This newest discovery was named the "Cave of the Crystals" and it turned out to be one of the most spectacular geological and mineralogical discoveries ever made ! In fact it is a complex system of caves orientated along a geological fault, which yield free growing gypsum crystals up to 12 m size and 2 m diameter.

In the mines there are many uique and rare species of gems and stones are found which is used in making jewelry. Some of the stones are very rare and they only found in this cave only till know. more than 90 types of gems and stones.

Rice Terrace Fields in Mu Cang Chai, Vietnam

Rice Terrace Fields in Mu Cang Chai, Vietnam

Geography: Mu Cang Chai is a district of Yen Bai province, about some 300 km north of Ha Noi, in the northeastern region of Vietnam. The place is home to the H'Mong and Thai community.

Main attraction: For the place being about 1000 meters above sea level, the steep hills make it almost impossible to grow rice fields like those in the delta. Thus local residences grow their own rice on the terraced fields, for the purpose of preventing water from flowing downhill. These terraced fields lying among rugged green moutain valleys, under clear blue sky or a mysterious and crips fog, bring to eyes an imposing scenery. During harvesting season, ready crops transitioned to yellow, while new crops still remain in their green color. The scenery is a big attraction to photographer and trekkers.
Best season to visit:  September to early October, this is the harvesting season.

Other north attraction
Dien Bien Phu: Dien Bien Phu is well known as the site of Vietnamese historic victory against the French colonial force. Located in the Dien Bien province, about 500 km west of Hanoi city, it is a historical relic complex consisting of many famous sites such as Him Lam Hill, Muong Thanh Bridge, Exhibition Museum, Dien Bien Phu Cemetery, A1 Hill, C1 Hill, etc, which still bears the scars of the wars reminding Vietnamese people of the decisive battle in the past. Probably two biggest attractions among heaps of sites are A1 Hill and Dien Bien Phu Museum.

Cuc Phuong National Park: The park possess the huge wildlife diversity but it also contains numerous beautiful caves that are of great value in archeology. Typical examples are a fossil of a sea reptile dating at 200 - 230 million years old and evidences of prehistoric human living in the forest about 7500 years ago found in caves. Such vestiges make the park become one of the oldest sites of human habitation in Vietnam.
From April to June, the park becomes hot, wet and muddy, and from July to October is the rainy season bringing lots of leeches. Therefore, the best time to pay a visit is during the dry season, from November to February

Pamukkale, Turkey

                                  Pamukkale,turkey

About
Pamukkale has been made eternally famous by the gleaming white calcite shelves overrunning with warm, mineral-rich waters on the mountain above the village – the so-called ‘Cotton Castle' (pamuk means 'cotton' in Turkish).
While it is tempting to wallow in the travertines, just above them lies Hierapolis, once a Roman and Byzantine spa city which has considerable ruins and a museum. Unesco World Heritage status has brought more extensive measures to protect the glistening bluffs, and put paid to the days of freely traipsing around everywhere, but the travertines remain one of Turkey’s singular experiences, even with restricted bathing.
While the photogenic travertines get busloads of day-trippers passing through for a quick soak and photo op, staying overnight allows you to visit the site at sunset and dodge some of the crowds. This also gives time for a day trip to the beautiful and little-visited ancient ruins of Afrodisias and Laodicea, and to appreciate the village of Pamukkale itself. It is a dedicated tourist town around Cumhuriyet Meydanı, but in quieter parts of the village life is still soundtracked by bleating goats and birdsong.
Where to stay in pamukkale
There are various kinds of accommodation choices ranging from 1 to 5 star hotels and aparts both in Pamukkale region and in Denizli city. Most of the luxury hotels in Pamukkale ( Karahayit district) have their own thermal pools and some hotels bring the thermal water into the guest rooms’ bathroom with seperate channels. You may prefer to stay in Karahayit district for those thermal hotels, otherwise the distance between Denizli and Pamukkale ( Karahayit) is only 20 km (12 miles).

It contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th centuries. The influence of Khmer art, as developed at Angkor, was a profound one over much of South-East Asia and played a fundamental role in its distinctive evolution. Khmer architecture evolved largely from that of the Indian subcontinent, from which it soon became clearly distinct as it developed its own special characteristics, some independently evolved and others acquired from neighbouring cultural traditions. The result was a new artistic horizon in oriental art and architecture.

Santorini Island, Greece

                                   Santorini Island, Greece

Santorini is the most popular island in Greece. It may be the most popular island in the world. There are few travel destinations that combine beautiful beaches, spectacular scenery, ancient cities, amazing restaurants, some of the world's best wine, and an active volcano. But Santorini has all this and more.
My Santorini Guide will introduce you to the island and assist you in having a memorable trip whether you are coming for your honeymoon, with your family, alone or with friends.
Most people who go to Greece go to Santorini. Maybe as many people go to Santorini as they do to Athens which is pretty amazing since most people who visit Greece have to at least stop in Athens to get wherever they are going. But this is not that surprising since there are direct flights to Santorini, any cruise that is worth taking stops here, and it is a part of just about every Greek island itinerary.

The beach towns of Perissa and Kamari are almost identical, though they are separated by a huge mountain of rock, and attract to their black sand beaches thousands of suntanned boys and girls with perfect bodies. I remember hearing of these marvels of nature (the sand, not the tanned bodies). Black sand  was like white whales or purple mountains majesty. Something that was considered beyond special and had to be seen to be believed.

The famous beaches are:
1: Kamari Beach
2: Perissa Beach
3: Koloubos Beach
4: Perivolos Beach
5: Caldera Beach
6: Vlichada Beach
7: Oia
8: Monalithos Beach

SANTORINI NIGHTLIFE
There is certainly plenty of nightlife in the beach towns but, beach bars are meant for the daytime and the true romantics stay in or near Thira or the other cliff towns and get back there from the beaches with plenty of time to shower, take a short nap and then walk to one of the bars that line the volcano for a few drinks and to watch the sunset. These are the types of places where lifelong friendships are made since you are all sharing the same remarkable experience.  It is an experience that heightens one's awareness of nature and his own place within it. It's a sense of awe combined with the relaxation that comes from the drink you have and the knowledge that there is nowhere you have to be. It's also a great place to meet girls and boys. But lets face it. After a couple glasses of wine you can be happy anywhere and some people don't even leave the hotel, especially those on their honeymoon who probably don't have that same compulsion to go out and get drunk and flirt.

EATING IN SANTORINI
Chances are you will be eating tourist food. Santorini is a tourist island and the restaurants have one purpose and that is to sell food to tourists. Yes there are restaurants that locals eat at but it is unlikely that you will stumble upon them on your own by walking the streets of Oia and Fira. This does not mean that the food is bad because it is made for tourists. On the contrary. Some of the tourist restaurants make very good food and are proud of it and while some may see their restaurants as feeding troughs with cash registers, and tourists as cattle that can be satisfied with mousaka and pastitsio, others see tourists as guests and go out of their way to find the best ingredients to introduce them to the unique cuisine of the island.

They are as vivid and organized as the Millennium Castle and, especially with their peaks peeping through the mist and clouds, produce mirage-like scenery of fantastic mountains and pavilions.

Precipitousness
The mountains there are always perpendicular or have very steep slopes which people regard in awe and many appear unclimbable.

                                                            Bagan, Mayanmar

Bagan (or Pagan) is an ancient city that was the capital of the first Burmese empire. It is located in the dry central plains of the country, on the eastern bank of the Irrawaddy (or Ayeyarwaddy) River. As the heart of Burma during ancient times, Bagan serves as home to temples and buildings built from the 11th century to the 13th century. There are more than 2,000 pagodas and temples to be found, most of which were built by the ancient kings and leaders of Burma.

Among all the cities in Myanmar, Bagan is the most ideal destination for tourists to visit regardless of the time of the year. Unlike cities in the lower part of Myanmar, Bagan does not experience a rainy season and it is the perfect climate of Bagan that enables tourists to discover and explore the ancient city with ease all year round.

Bagan may be an old city, but it does offer something fresh to its visitors. There are many contemporary hotels and establishments for the modern adventurer.

How to get there?
When entering Bagan you pass through a ticket booth where you present your passport and purchase a US$10 ticket valid for your entire stay. These passes are also needed for accommodation as hotels and hostels take down the ticket number when you check in.Staff at the ticket booths round out their salaries by selling pirate copies of George Orwell's Burmese Days for around US$5, though if you negotiate you can get them down to $2.

BY PLAIN
You can fly to Bagan from Yangon on Air Mandalay [1], Air Bagan [2] or Myanma Airways [3]] for about US$ 65. Air Mandalay and Air Bagan also fly from Mandalay. (Yangon airways ceased operations for a while, but say they will resume operations on 16 October 2011).From the airport to New Bagan, it takes about 15-20 minutes by car, and usually this will cost around 7000-10000 kyat. Most midrange and luxury hotels will give you a free pickup from the airport.

BY TRAIN
Overnight trains run daily from Yangon, departing at about 4PM and arriving in Bagan at about 9AM the following day, at prices ranging from a few thousand Kyat (a few dollars) in second class, to US $50 for a "luxury" sleeper. There is a direct train service running from Mandalay to Bagan with two departures daily. Tickets are available directly at the railway station and cost about US$6 one way. The journey takes about seven hours. Most train routes in Myanmar are fairly nice, however when going on the Mandalay-Bagan route expect the train to be incredibly crowded. You will also have limited room to store your stuff, as well as cramped uncomfortable sitting conditions.
